Worth the Wait

What in life is worth the wait? And what is meant in "it's too late?" Does time decide when to be kind? Or the person who in it confides? I often ask the question why Is it so hard, so frail, so fine? Why must struggle be apart Of something meant as a work of art? My mind tells me to ignore time, To jump ahead, that love is blind, To put my heart out on my sleeves And flawless affection to achieve. But then a voice comes to my mind Whispering "befriend your time." And then I realize that this love Is wholly ordained from up above; This want I have for more of you Is proving that this love is true, And nothing you could do or say Could make me throw my love away. What in life is worth the wait? And what is meant in "it's too late?" I'll tell you for I have been told And this advice be more than gold: To Take our time in what we please In romance take it slow with ease; To first love Him in all I do And in return to then love you And what is worth the wait, you ask? (Though it seems like such an impossible task) The touch of your hand entwined with mine, The touching charge that's so sublime, The falling of my head on yours, That peace of which I want much more, The comfort of your arms so strong Embracing me for short or long, Your arm around with loving hold, The ease of being lovingly bold, The hand that cups the face with care, The gentle caressing of the hair, And then when beautiful lips shall meet In love's first kiss like honey sweet. All these things are worth the wait, Though some for short and some for late, Only time and God can lead What we both long for and both need. But we must make good Time our friend So that our love steadfast can mend. Our Father will for us restore What's worth the wait and so much more.
