Worth The Wait

Sometimes I wonder if it it true what they say that good things come to those who wait, 

But it can be discouraging if you don't think that there will ever be an actual date.

I don't know if it makes me dumb for being willing to hang on and wait for you,

But I feel like in your heart you feel the same way that I do.

For once, I am comfortable around a guy that I am interested in, and that is saying a lot,

But I do have a fear about being caught.

I know that it is irrational, and the thought of that actually happening is only a very slight chance,

But it is so hard to not say anything and to not look over at you with a glance.

I can tell that you're shy, but we had a good conversation when I initiated it,

And we stood there talking for two hours, and it wasn't awkward one bit.

I'll tell you this, you are not like the guys that I usually fall for, but that may be a good thing;

And I know that it sounds cliche', but when I'm near you, my heart starts to sing.

I don't know if this is a good idea, and I don't know what the future will bring,

But we could give it a shot, and it could be something serious, or it could be a fling.

Your eyes shine so bright in the sun, and you have the cutest smile,

And I almost feel guilty for saying this, but you can see it for miles and miles.

I've learned to wait before, and this time it is no different, but at least this time I am waiting for an event that can actually take place,

Because one year is not that long to wait, and taking it slow is my kind of pace.
