Worthwhile
I want to leave something behind.
A trace that my existence in the never ending cycle of life was somehow worth all the trouble.
Something to prove to not only myself, but those who come after me, that I was not a lost cause, that all the world’s efforts weren’t wasted and dissolved into nothing.
No, I don’t want to let those chances fizzle away as so many do,
I want to take the one ember I was given and turn it into a living, breathing flame.
It may not end up a roaring bonfire and it certainly won’t last forever,
but I made something where there was nothing.
I don’t need to be remembered as record breaking,
I just need to be remembered as worthwhile.
