Would You (to the dad I never had)

Would you

cry with pride

when I do something well,

would your

lips turn upward

when I step inside the room,

would you

hold me

when I'm a jumbled mess,

would you

carry me when I'm so

crippled with my fears

that I can't even walk.

would you

help me to stand,

would you

hold my hand and

run beside me.

would you

stay with me forever,

would you

stand up for me

show me

you're here for me always.

would you

push me through

the worst times,

would you float with me

through the best times

and never decide

it was just too hard

to stay by me.

would you

take my hand and

dance with me until

the sun peeks through

the trees.

would you

whisper in my ear,

"I love you, now and always,"

and pull me close.

would you

have the patience

to wait for me

to heal and

never give up on me.
