Would You Have Shown Up That Night

There are some things

That are better left unsaid.

And though I try to make you happy

I make you sob instead.

Why have I become so bitter,

What have I done so wrong?

Why can’t I make it better?

I’ve been trying all along.

And though you stand there

Telling me lies,

I am the only one

Who seems to apologize.

You cannot change what you have done

You cannot change who you’ve become.

You cannot see the hurt in my eyes

You cannot see the sorrow that subsides.

But at the end of the day

It’s good to know you’re there.

Although it doesn't seem like it

It’s good to know you care.

If you could take it all back

Would you?

If you knew what you know now,

Would you have spoken?

“I can’t believe it’s you”

It was love at first sight,

But if you could go back in time,

Would you have shown up that night?
