Would you rather...

What is love without hate
what is the present without the past
a little is never enough but a little is better than nothing
if given the decision
which would you choose, dead father or a sometimer

Pushing up daisies is an act that can never really change
there's no room to question the name on the grave
he isn't there to hold you
congratulate you on the things you do
won't be there to applaud as you walk across the stage
can't possibly take pictures of you as you age
you will never really be the same
crying every father's day
constantly replay the memories you actually remember
you're heart’s thermostat automatically shift to december
when you come back to reality and realize he's gone foreva
nothin left to fill that agonizing hole you left with
but those bittersweet memories and that one picture
and a small part of you blames him for leavin
because he didn't have to go FRUITVALE station
but you tell yourself he loved you
every day so you can make it through
the week
it doesn't make sense to hold a grudge
When there's nothing he could possibly do to make it up
so bigons return to bigons
and you do your best to move on

on the other hand you're dad could be alive
someone there to hold you when you cry
ssssssssometimes
you'll visit for the holidays
a phone call for your birthday
he's never there when you need him
but you have to smile every time you see him
which is about 3 times of a year
as if communication is his biggest fear
your relationship a long game of peek-a-boo
you'll never know when you’ll see him, or when he’ll come get you
He'll be the best magician you've never seen
so you call, TO LEAVE A VOICE MESSAGE PRESS ONE again
you hear it more than you hear from him
and you don't know what else to do
when he calls every eight months to say I LOVE you
love you have very little proof of existence
so overtime that line causes you to develop mixed feelings
about the man you call father
he hasn't called back in months so why bother
as you get older you start to feel like you love him
more than he loves you
so much so that you question the true definition of the word
but hey, he was a better father than his dad
surprisingly gave you more love than he ever had
alittle never enough but enough but a little is better than nothing
so which would you choose
call it a would you rather
have a deceased father or a sometimer
