Wouldn't live without
I don’t even know why I have to write
But I have to.
I don’t even know the person in the mirror when I don’t
I am more than myself when I do.
And the only thing I need to live is to write.
Just feel the keys under my fingers,
Let the light of a computer screen fill in the rest.
There is nothing else on earth but words.
You can look at sky and the hills and find
That they are nothing but letters.
It’s my god-complex working up
I crave the infinity that is fiction
Manipulating the characters and forcing them through situations.
When people say it’s like magic, to write,
I roll my eyes. Magic was never, is never, will never be real to me.
But those words are real.
And I will hold my own book in my hands one day
If you’ve ever craved to see your name in a library,
You understand
It’s not just drive
It’s not as flimsy as ambition
It’s not a dream
No way in hell this is a phase.
This is my entire life.
I am fifteen
I have the world’s most boring life
I stay in my own head too much.
But more than anything, I am a writer.
Whatever that’s supposed to mean.
