Wounded

Darkness

It's everywhere

In a child's eyes

In their minds,

Their soul

She feels most lonely,

In a crowded room

Sorrow defines her face,

But no one asks

Every morning is a struggle

Should she get out of bed,

Or dissolve into nothing?

She looks in the mirror

Puts on her fake smile

And is ready for the day

People try to talk

She can't hear them

Her thoughts consuming her,

Telling her lies

Or maybe the truth

She can't decide

She makes it through the day

Everyone believed her

No one saw the self hate

The torture inside

Not one person

Nobody cares

Why should they?

She finally gets home

She lays in her bed,

Staring at the ceiling

With nothing but her thoughts

Her mind is so mean

Calling her names

Yelling at her

Hating her

She just cries

Looking at her arms,

She trembles

Blood runs down onto her hands

She is on the bathroom floor

Her back against the wall

Too weak to stand

She's there for a while

Unable to cope with her emotions

She doesn't know how to feel

She's lost and afraid

Her heart is aching

She looks in the mirror,

Growing pale

The mirror shatters

She smiles

And begins to cry

Her parents are home from work

Both in bad moods

The smallest thing sets them off

They scream at her

Calling her names

Tearing her apart

She goes back to bed

And cries a little more

She can never catch a break

The monsters in her mind return

"Nobody loves you!" they say

"Why are you still here?"

"I don't know." was her only response

She didn't know

Why did she feel this way?

Was she the only one?

Maybe not

But that didn't matter

The monsters were right

She decided to leave,

She never came back
