Wrapped Up In My Golden Locket

A pair of emerald green eyes stares back at me

His gleaming smile shining bright

A full head of jet black hair

Not a single grey in sight

I can still hear his infectious laugh

Smell his favorite cologne

Feel his stubbly cheek against my forehead

As my father swooped me up, welcoming me home

A candid moment frozen in time

His youthful energy beautifully preserved

A father and daughter reunited at last

Exhibiting the love and affection everyone deserves

Precious memories wrapped up in my golden locket

With it, I could not bear to part

For that is where I keep a photo of my father

Always near my heart

In the midst of times of trouble

When black clouds refuse to fade away

I take a peek inside my golden locket

And reminisce of better days

It serves as a constant reminder

That even though he has moved away

My father never stopped loving me

He is, and always will be, here to stay

This picture worth a thousand words

Encapsulates all the values he taught me

Helping me make smart decisions

Another absolute necessity
