Write and Wait
I used to be alone
So lonely it hurt
I missed my dad, my brother, and my luck
I was a pariah, abnormal and strange
Nobody ever wanted to hear me
Or see me
Nobody cared for my pain
When you know not a single soul hears your cries, the cries cease and a dull resonance thuds
I wrote in a furious passion on a blank sheet because it made the thuds disappear
For a second I had a depth that few had or ever will
I was something great, a teller of tales
I was telling of the hungry, beaten, and forgotten
I was screaming to the tops of my lungs, beating my chest in retribution
I was something bigger than myself
Abstract yet tangible
I was me in a greater sense
Without boundaries or weakness
I understood my self more, accepted what was
I didn't hate or judge
I wrote on a page that was just nothing before
I was a creator, a philosopher, a finder of things
I created my own world, summed up a truth I hadn't seen
I wasn't just a stupid girl, I wasn't just a dreamer
My life has worth, I'll be great someday
Those who scorn me are just lost
I'll learn not be weak, I'll conquer my fears and hate
I'll try to make myself, the world, and those around me flourish
Until that's true, I'll write and wait
