To Write is to Live
There is no rhyme or reason
No flow or scheme
The only thing is freedom
This is what poetry is to me
The dark crept into my life
A long time ago
And a long time ago
I was in the dark
Anger swept through my veins
And tears ran down my face
The safety I once felt was gone
Or was in hiding
On paper there it was
As I wrote things became clear
I was here for me
The pages I wrote were here to feel the pain
The pain of yesterday
The pain or tomorrow
And as long as I live
The pain of today
Suffering is a choice
Not one I took lightly
Poetry gave me my life
And so for the world I give back poetry.
