Write the Pain Away
I have a disease that no one can see
I'm trapped in my head and just want to be free
See my brain is sick, it wants to die
But if you ask me, this secret I'll always deny
I wanted to talk but how do I start?
I'm afraid that my pain will break your heart
If you saw on my arms the way I cope
You'd discover the scars and lose all hope
I waited for someone to understand
and found that voice in the form of a band
He sang of sorrow and the pain we hide
but decided to take that all in stride
The lyrics were poems feelings so raw
They played on repeat as I sat in awe
I decided to try to find beauty in pain
So the writing began and took off like a train
My mind got quiet ceasing to rage
As words began to fill the page
These works are dark, but they give me light
Reminding me never give up the fight
When I find my self lost now and again
I skip the razor and go for the pen
