Maybe Frost and the road

Maybe Mr. Keating and his society.

No.

Poetry is deeper than the shallow surface barely scratched in my high school English class.

Frost had his snowy woods

And Whitman his Captain

And I

I have my thoughts and my pen and paper.

I have my own format of poetry.

I have experiences that drive creativity.

Poetry is my outlet to express myself.

I can say what I want

When I want

To whoever I want.

Furthermore, I can reach out to others through my written lyric.

But poetry is not about me

It’s about us.

We strive for peace

For equality

For justice.

Poetry allows us all to express these feelings and connect.

The world needs more

More creativity

More expression

More deep thinking

More poetry.
