the writer of these words.
the writer of these words,
they think themselves as insignificant
and so every word they write
starts with lowercase letters.
they are not creative
so they spend the first stanza
just talking about themselves
hoping they could relate,
to find a common mind
and pluck it from the garden of hate
only to find a weed
just disguised as the rest.
the writer of these words,
they are lonely, trapped in the fist
of what the others call isolation.
and so they write these words
so they would land somewhere
instead of hang in the air
and they don't have to think
it's no one else there.
they are not creative,
so they spend the second stanza
just talking about why they're writing
hoping these words would strike
like a sword to isolation
when someone decides to read
but will they understand?
the writer of these words,
they're normal to the eye
not a second thought to its beholder
and so they write these words
so they can say otherwise
in the only way they can
without tearing their guise
and make the others worry.
they are not creative,
so they spend the third stanza
just talking about their day
hoping these words
would make those others think
differently.
but who would read this?
the writer of these words,
their hearts are punctured by guilt
that they expect someone
to read these words
and care about its writer.
it's almost a crime
these words aren't worth their time
they are better, because they're happy.
and so the writer thinks,
how selfish could they be
to try and strip the joy away.
they are not creative,
so they spend the fourth stanza
just talking about how they feel
hoping someone, somewhere,
would read between their words
and sense the good intentions
but why would they make
that much effort?
the writer of these words,
they decide to make a poem
to vent their hopes in action verbs.
that in each of those words
are the drive to keep trying
because the action verbs exist.
They are creative
So they spend the fifth stanza
Just talking about how they keep going
In a way no one else can understand.
and how
to whoever reads,
they notice the words
that tend to break apart
their sentences to make lines
as if they take breaths through ink.
and the writer of these words
feel every exhale as if
they are alive by
these words
instead of
their depressed bodies.
so the words blow the fresh air
that turns their lips upward
and smile.
