Writer's Block

Twenty six letters composing a phrase,
Letters that have the power to break chains,
Whether they exist in books or essays,
Penetrate my heart, running through my veins.

Twenty six letters creating our words
My weapons of choice, a double edged sword
Hoping that someday their voice will be heard
Not hidden in darkness, alone, unheard.

Twenty six letters forgiving our wrongs
Misused, abused, forsaken as garbage
Waiting in darkness for so very long
Emerging, finally free from bondage.

Meant to be cherished, these beautiful things
Are now able to fly on newfound wings.
