Writer’s Block

I’ve been staring at this paper that lies before me for quite some time.

This is not an assignment, so I know that there is something, something I want to write, something I want to say.

I’ve written on this line a thousand times, I could collect all the eraser shavings and create a mosaic mapping out the entire complexity that is my mind.

So many times have I suppressed what I’ve wanted to say, I am almost prone to this feeling.

Why have I done this?

Is it because I have so much to say, so much that I don’t know where to begin?

Am I afraid of the critiques?

Am I unconsciously feeding into my fears of accidentally saying something wrong?

Is it because I’ve become used to keeping my mouth shut?

Is it because I am confused?

Is because I feel that there is no point because nobody will care to even listen?

Or am I simply at a loss of words?

How does a writer forget to write?

How does a person forget to breathe?

My qualities, what I believed to come to me naturally are being questioned.

All as a result to still be staring at this paper that lies before me for quite some time.
