Writing

Writing, for me

was always a form of controversy.

I am set to be a doctor,

a researcher,

a doer of good.

But books and language

set me apart.

Gave me wings,

let me escape.

I'll read a prompt,

go on with my day,

and come back to it later.

Write it my way.

Poetry didn't enter.

It just always was.

It helped me escape the facts,

dive into the fiction.

It gave me wings to

fly away.
