Writing is Freedom
Everyday
I keep my mouth shut
For I cannot say my opinion
without being pierced with words
or having my possessions taken from me
I cannot talk back
cannot speak my mind
cannot use my voice to persuade
When I take that pen
When I write on that white sheet
All my troubles go away
They flow out of me
Like ants avoiding spray
Like demons avoiding something so holy, so pure
that they cannot get too close or they will vanish
Finally
All that I kept inside is now on the paper
in my own way I have said what I've needed
and I am now free
Writing is freedom
