Writing Poems

I grab a sheet of notebook paper

And my favorite purple ink pen

I find my desk, sit down in my chair

Now I’m ready to begin.

It can be hard to write in rhyme

To find the word that fits the best

It’s like connecting the final puzzle piece

Or finding the answer to a difficult test

My quest to find the right word

Might not be very easy

But I still enjoy it-

It doesn’t make me queasy

Writing poems is something I do

I happen to find it quite fun-

When the right word clicks into place

It feels like I’ve won
