Writing Poetry
I write to express what's inside of me
the hurt, the happiness, the jealousy, the pride
Everything
I write to speak for the voices of those who have none
for the oppressed, the hidden, the subordinate
I write to rejoice with those who speak up
the beleivers, the faithful, the found
Because when I write I let out what I can't say to others
With words I fight and I sing and rap for my brothers and mother
I write to praise the Lord, and when I pray to Him
Sometimes I need help on this road, or a problem makes the world spin
I write for the violinist, the cereal-lovers, the petite
I write when I am joyous, melancholy, afraid
I write because I am a poet.
