Writing For A Purpose
Not all poems rhyme
Though that's how they would seem
Not all poems rhyme
But they all have a meaning
Not all poems rhyme
Though they can all offer motivation
Not all poems rhyme
But we all still write them
We attain a motivation
Through experience
Education
Writing
Learning
No one said it was easy
No one said it was hard
But when writing, we learn
We can make up our own worlds
We can insert our own problems
And find our own solutions
We try new things
And without leaving the safety of our computer screens
Typing and printing
Printing and typing
Hours spent each day
The life of a writer is tedious to others
To us, it is never dull
One day we may chase dragons
In the hills of Ireland
The next we may chase love
Our hearts in someone else's hand
Another day may come
Where we choose to write a fight
Between pirates and mermaids
Such nonsense and whatnot!
It's all okay,
Though none may admit it
We are writers
Therefore, we do it!
Whether near or far,
Here or there
Writers write to share
I know I enjoy
The looks on faces as I watch them read
They become absorbed by my words
Entranced by my characters
Readers want to know what happens next.
"I must know"
They cry.
"You must tell me"
They shriek.
But the only way they'll ever know
Is to read on.
I write for pleasure
For fun.
I write to relieve stress
To solve a problem.
Others don't realize
But writing is a gift.
A gift that not everyone has
But those who do
Can rule over the world
Just with the stroke of their hand.
So, while not all poems rhyme,
(This one fits that bill)
All poems have a meaning,
A sentiment, if you will
This one tells a story
One of a girl
Who writes to solve the mystery
Of why she writes at all.
