Writing on White
Some can dance or sing or play
Some can run or make straight A’s
But then there are those who write
Who create colors on paper so white
That’s where I feel most at home
Between the words and scribbled notes
It’s more than just a phrase or two
It means much more to me maybe you
Because when the pen hits its ground
The feelings I once lost can now be found
And when the words refuse to end
I know there’s more around the bend
Every rhyme takes out a feeling of mine
Every line breaks through these walls inside
Every dot brings out a captive thought
Every blot reveals what all else could not
The ink may run out and dry up quick
But what flows through my veins is far too thick
It lives inside below my fingertips
And no human nor ghost can make me quit
So I’ll keep on letting my hands run fast
They always answer the questions I’ve asked
Now that you’ve heard what some letters can do
Will you let them in to change you, too?
