Like death's shadow,
Darkness creeps over
His flesh.
Where did it begin
Or end?
Who is this man
Being covered?
Every last detail
Abolished,
As he turns to
A wraith-like spirit
Of his former being.
The writing has transformed
His face.
Letter to words,
Light and dark--
two pendulums of both,
Creeping over
The gloomy shroud
Of what he once was.
