Written Notes & Warm Hugs

Every day I open my lunch

and see a white paper

with a black heart

inscribed in the middle.

Every day when I come home

I am greeted with a hug so warm,

it feels like an angel

is by my side.

Every night when I go to bed,

you kiss me on the forehead

and tell me to have sweet dreams

as though I am still a child.

It is because of you,

Mom and Dad,

that I realize that love

is more than just words

And when someone tells me

“Because I love you”

it should be with their actions,

not their mouth.

You’ve given me attention.

You’ve given me opportunities.

You’ve given me life.

And because of that…

I love you.
