The Written Word

When I first met the lovely written word,

Fantastic worlds in my mind's eye arose.

With lyric sounds, imagination stirred,

And began shaping stories to compose.

I flew, away from school and far beyond

Through timeless tales of love, adventure, war

And found the beauty of the human bond

That reaches softly through a poem's door.

As friends, the word and I create and write

For other hearts who dream of taking flight.
