Wrong Together

Once upon a time

I was in class

with a substitute

playing a familiar math game

the rule was that

even when wrong

you'd get a point for

being the only one

to guess an answer

of course

there'd be more points for getting it right

the same answer as everyone else

you want the right answer

but I alone guessed wrong

got a measly point

the others won more

substitute said

if you're the only one who thinks something

your probably wrong

laughed a little

like

always

wrong

was what she meant

it wasn't true

I thought

but time passed

years

i was tired

For no reason

i remembered

then,

finally,

that little boy

who yelled that the emperor had

no clothes

was naked

look

you can see right there

but I forget what came next

and either way

the tailors got away with it

and everyone

was humiliated

what a disgrace

maybe it's best

To be wrong

with the crowd

sometimes
