XI

1:59am i watched you sleep your breath quiet and your chest rising and falling languidly a vision in gray clothed in the veil of night bathed in the pale moonlight a nocturnal baptism —- 2:07am you mumbled something half asleep too low for my ears to reach a rustle heard in the night my cigarette smoke sways to lazy beat of your heart —- 2:10am your silent call beckons me i oblige happily i lay back down between warm sheets and cold feet the morning cannot reach us here
