Yeah: The Mind of an Introvert

I wanted to say something.

You know something, something meaningful.

But I couldn’t think of what to say.

I would just reply “yeah” and we’d both carry on about our day.

But that’s not what I wanted say.

I would kick myself because it was my fault everything never went my way.

BUT WHAT COULD I SAY!

“I think you’re beautiful.”

No! NO! She will know. She will know I like her and it will end.

Just as the conversation just started to begin.

Should I compliment her?

No. It would just end up awkward like the rest.

So my feelings I won’t confess.

And still I end up in the same boat.

Floating in the trash bin sailing over every pointless poem I ever wrote.

But I care too much, I hang onto every last note.

And maybe eventually I’ll be able to take those notes and make a song.

My heart would win her over and show my mind wrong.

But it’s too ambitious of a thought.

In the end maybe it wasn’t even her that I sought.

Maybe… My mind would often ponder the word.

Because with it had the chance to make my heart feel absurd.

It was always accompanied with “relationships suck” because it seemed like nowadays thats all I heard.

And after my heart tried with all it’s might.

In the end it would always lose the fight.

And it would finally convince my heart that it was right.

Afterwards it would bunker up with tempered steel.

Convince my mind that love isn’t real.

And once again I would forget how those emotions truly feel.

This is what goes on inside my brain.

My thoughts are so loud, I feel as if I might go insane.

I’m constantly flooded with tons of emotions and I don’t know what to do.

I feel my phone vibrate, it’s a text, and it’s from you.

And like some unnaturally curious metaphorical mole.

Once again I would venture down that rabbit hole.

And once again… And you never knew how I felt.

How could you? If I told you I believe I would melt.

You poured your heart out and I couldn’t think of what to say.

So I’d just say “yeah” and we’d both  go on about our day.
