A Year Alone

A Year Alone

I chose to go,

to somewhere that was quite unknown.

A Year Alone;

A long plane flight.

I cried myself to sleep that night.

A Year Alone,

Strange Family.

Why did I come to this country?

A Year Alone,

First day of School

I thought the kids would be more cruel.

A Year Alone

I joined a choir.

Just listen to these girls go higher!

A Year Alone

Friends I've made

Who I wouldn't have met if I'd stayed

A Year Alone,

What did I find?

Brand new people opened my mind.

A Year Alone?

I know you see,

My Year Alone was not just me.
