A Year of Brave
One bite of the forbidden fruit,
an act catalyzed by fear.
Fear is blindness
and yet opens our eyes.
We become unable to see the truth,
yet painfully aware of lies.
Never to be good enough,
never to love or be loved,
never brave enough to speak up.
We can't see past the scars
to see the beauty.
Yet there is a voice to fight the fear,
I voice I have proclaimed
over this year.
This voice is Brave.
Bravery is knowing who you are
and embracing every part of it.
Every doubt and uncertainty,
they are part of the beauty.
My friend, choose to live brave.
Let yourself love wholly and live fully.
Let yourself be shaped by the storms,
but not broken.
And when fear calls, hold to hoping.
For if you never leap, you never fly.
And while fear kills, hope brings life.
