A Year in Poetry

The year passes by, just like any other

Though we may have our regrets

There is much that can be learned

Much that can be looked back on

As something that added to our character

One way or another

Through the dark times and the good

From one day to the next

We must keep our memories close

So we may change for the future

And for the better.

I stood in the blistering cold

With a ruined car and fearful demeanor

Yet I obtained my license with flying colors

And felt free despite what would happen later

The election didn’t turn out as planned

I feared what may come

But compared to a new friend made this year

It didn’t matter as much

Through ups and downs

Through twists and turns

What happened in my life and others

In a year of chaos

In a year of strife

We must take the good and the bad

And hope for an even brighter future

Our world
