A Year's Experience

A valuable year soars by,

Opportunities and experience it provides.

Yet a greedy year glides by,

Toxic relationships and people it hides.

Anxiety, emotions, death, and self-hatred,

All conspired against me.

The waters of negativity enveloped,

As I suffocated undersea.

But, the governing evil was dazed;

taken by surprise,

Their precious prey had seen past the lies.

The warm rays of the sun pierced the surface,

Exposing the beautiful life below.

I was finally able to recognize

Through the pain, I was able to grow.

I had seen the positive,

In what I thought was the end.

I endured the worst,

And my lungs were strengthened.
