Years Go By

Years and years of fun and joy,

complete and blissful innocence.

Growing up comes when life is no longer easy.

Years and years of new adventures,

all with happy endings.

Growing up comes when a beautiful story can have a sad ending.

Years and years of making new friends,

ones who can always make you smile.

Growing up comes when your friends are there to hold you in your darkest time.

Years and years of new memories,

with friends who have become like family.

Growing up comes when you see the bad events in the world,

and you know that you will make it through them.

Years and years of hearing the news,

some good but mostly sad stories.

Growing up comes when you try to add enough good to the world,

to overpower the bad.

Growing up can feel like a burden,

but growing up comes when it is time for you to face the world,

and fight to make it better.
