Yellow Hue

Dear me from you,

I went to church as often as I could

Growing up it was my reward for being "good".

I was taught to pray with my hands and knees

Stay silent and never speak, that was key.

I prayed with my body as a whole

Even though it nearly took my soul.

When I became a teenager I prayed more & more

It eventually became one of my chores

Now an adult, my confusion set and my attachment withered

I no longer felt the need to be silenced and filtered.

Now the only heaven I feel is when I'm with you

Someone who helped me grow

And became my yellow hue.

Sincerely,

You
