The Yellow Rose

Dear Hate,

The world beyond the brick and stone,

Alluring with florets a many.

Yet, the sod appeared an empty home.

With seeds in hand, I planted twenty.

The Earth was cracked, the rain had ceased.

Roses never broke to gasp the air;

The world once blooming was now aggrieved.

I continued to douse them with love and care.

With the brick and stone to be destroyed,

I  looked out at the world one last time.

A pale, yellow rose sprouted bringing joy.

I was unable to pick it, it seemed a crime.

Something so beautiful should not be killed;

So why do we kill our own?

Thinking of such, makes me ill.

Keep the flower in its home.

Sincerely,

Love
