Yes
You use to stare at the ground when You walked, without knowing why
You covered Your mouth when You laughed to hide that crooked smile
You stared at the ceiling at night instead of sleeping, believing You could spend those hours trying to figure out what was wrong with Your life and You.
You sat in the middle of any classroom as to not draw attention to Yourself, but far enough up that You were still apart of the group
You smile and laugh and joke and play, but every time You look into something offering a reflection You see Me.. The sad one, you hope no one ever sees,
while simultaneously praying to God for Anyone to notice that your laugh stops short because it's not real and your smile never reaches your ears because you could never really fake joy well enough.. Because you couldn’t remember what it was
You sat in your room on the floor staring at me in the mirror wondering why you didn’t recognize who you were looking at..
You wondered why you had never been able to call me- you.
You felt like a problem..like a mistake.
Like this life was not suppose to be yours
and you always wonder if it was meant to be yours.. Did you even want it?
Your answer was always no…
and then just once
One single time
you whispered ‘yes’ to your internal question
And that was the start of something miraculous
I skip when going down the street, because a little bouncy never hurt anyone
I lift my face to the sun whenever I can, believing that its color and warmth will live inside me and pour outward through me to anyone I come in contact with.
I spend my nights singing as loud as I can even with my scratchy voice, until I collapse with exhaustion and laughter.
I smile so hard my face hurts and I wouldn’t be the least bit worried if my face got stuck with my smile open and wide, because I like my teeth.
I sit wherever I want in a crowded room and eyes always follow because one day I became this person who people drift towards.. This persons whose vibe drew the attention of anyone around.
I became me. Someone I love being around.
The sad one.. Well she wasn’t in general just a sad being. She was sad I was not happy. That we were not happy.
Because she was not me. And she wanted to be happy.. I wanted to be happy.
So, I smile now when I pass a glass window and see her looking back at me. I smile because she is now me..
we are happy.
I am happy..
The most important relationship I could have ever built was one with myself..because I’m stuck with me forever.
