Yet So Still...
The sun's light, slipping through the cracks of the front blinds, resides on the living room floor. The dials of the grand clock off to the corner dance in sync to their own tune. In the distance I hear drips of water crashing down onto the metal frame of the sink in the kitchen. The fridge hums its mono-tone song with an occasional avalanche of ice rushing down within it.
So much movement, yet so still.
As I retire to the couch I find myself uncomfortable with every set position I place myself in. Eyes to the ceiling, and my limbs hanging off the ends of the couch, and I think.. "Nope, this isn't it..". I wrestle feverishly with the cotton candy soft mats; all to find a place of stability & serenity. The sun keeps on shinning, the dials keep on dancing, water crashing, fridge humming, and ice rushing.
So much movement, yet so still.
As my body finally reaches a common ground with the couch, I close my eyes and let the mats take on my shape & my weight. Teetering in and out of consciousness, I find myself leaving one realm and entering another. My thoughts now come alive in their domain, their home, my head. They run frantically and without any regard to anyone; they answer to no one. The bandits cause great havoc, kicking in every door, pulling on every wire, and they do it all with no explanation. Merely, because they can..
So much movement, yet so still.
Traveling great lengths, from my head to the tips of my toes, they leave no spot untouched. Very dissatisfied, they trek back to the spots in which they hit in hopes to discover uncovered ground. They suddenly come upon a place within their domain that is foreign to them. It's huge door towered over them and was labeled HEART with a sign under labeled CAUTION. With their menacing grins dripping with saliva, they slowly approach the door with all intentions of continuing their havoc. They reach for the handle and a shock courses through their hollow frames, striking them down. They laid there, fried, at the doorstep of the HEART.
The movement was now still.
Instantaneously as the shock from the heart was triggered, my eyes shot open. I found myself leaving one realm and re-entering another. The moon was shinning, the dials were still dancing, water still crashing, fridge still humming, and still ice rushing.
So much movement, yet within all of the movement, there was a place; a place foreign to all familiar domains; one that could not be moved or unsettled..it was STILL and stood firm within its boundary, it's domain, my body, my HEART.
