For You

Fair

There was nothing fair

Want

It’s much too late for that now

Why is it that when these things happen

You only regret

Why is it so hard to cherish the happy memories

Without being seared from pain

A burning nostalgia

I swear it was only yesterday

You taught me how to carefully fold those

Fucking dumplings

Those fucking great dumplings

You gingerly

So lovingly held my hand as we walked to the library

(With the pair of lions guarding the doors, I remember)

Because you knew I loved those books

Those damn books

I don't care about them

I'd burn all the books in the world to have you back

Please I want to pick the persimmons again

With you

(They weren't ripe yet; they never were because I was too impatient)

I want to walk in your beautiful garden again

With you

(Watermelons and those yucky greens that I so hated)

I’ll be patient,

I’ll eat all the greens you tell me to.

I want to be with you again.

I love you.

You were loved.

Thank you.
