You.

The word “PROMISE” means something to me. Something important. It’s meant to be kept, Cherished, Honored, Something special. But to you? “PROMISE” Is just another word In your vocabulary. One more sweet poison to Catch my attention, Rope me in, Keep me there, But worst of all? You make me love you. You had me trust you, To the point where I was stupid enough To actually let my walls down And listen to the nonsense That spilled out of your head. To what? To be able to say “You’re mine” ? To control my life? Who I talked to, what I wore, Me. To be able to simply say You had a girlfriend? Well? What was it? Because I know it wasn’t love. You don’t destroy people you love, You do know that, right? You protect them, You care for them, You’re always there, You promise. And you mean it. Well, that’s what anybody Who actually loves, Who means what they say, Who doesn’t just promise, But fulfills everything their partner wants. Somebody who has a heart, And gives two shits about anyone but themselves. I’m sorry that I thought you were that kind of person, And that I even wasted a second glance in your direction.
