For You
Every time I think about getting into a car
I always think I am going very far
And yet sometimes the ride is short
It seems like yesterday that we were in cohorts
You with your easy going smile
You with your little energy so wild
You with your nicknames driving me crazy
You and I - just being lazy
It doesn't seem fair that you are gone
Life came by and stole your song
So what I am supposed to do without my friend?
What am I supposed to do now that we've come to the end?
I walk along the beach where we met so long ago
And I know this obstacle I face will help me grow
I miss you so much and yet now I know
This is why you had to die - so that I could grow
Now everything I ever say or do
Will be a reminder to me of you
You didn't get to do all the things you wanted to do
But you did the best you could - now I will too
I won't ever forget being your friend
This isn't the end, just the beginning
And so I hope you are okay wherever you are
Now I have a reason to look to the stars
And I promise you that I will try my very best
Because you will be watching me as I try to pass the tests
Stay with me as you did when you were alive
I do things with you in mind
Don't ever forget your special starfish here on earth okay ?
Now it is time to live another day
