You
I would bring you.
Despite everything that goes on in my life,
My choice would be you.
Not only for one day
But for every day,
Or as long as I would be stranded,
On a deserted island
Most Likely it would start off as a trip.
I would happily make my way to your house,
Even though you’re a couple miles away.
I’d drive, If my car wasn’t out of gas
Or if my parents approved,
But if not, I’d walk, bike, taxi, or take a bus ride,
Anything so I could get to you.
Once I arrived I’d pray at the door,
Pray that you’d agree to come.
I would walk inside as soon as you allowed me too,
Probably after we cracked a couple jokes
And I had made a fool of myself,
Because this usually happens
When I’m with you.
I tend to think highly of you
And try to be the best,
Because I know I’ve met no one like you.
I’d ask you to accompany me.
Unleashing the words to cascade through my quivering lips
Relinquishing the words that would leave my crumbling interior
Intimidated by the sincerity
Of my request.
I’d pray that you’d find me worthy of your presence
And warmly answer
“Of course”
Just like you always did.
The trip would start off great until I got lost,
Just like I tend to when I’m without you.
But you wouldn’t mind.
You’d always had a sense of adventure
Somehow, we’d find some way to survive,
You’d play your part, as long as I played mine
And when things calmed down we’d talk about life.
You’d probably tell me about your life
And the people who didn’t like you,
The same people who you wished they did,
And then I’d say
That you had nothing to worry about because
You had me and a lot of people who cared about you.
I’d say that sometimes you can be hard to understand,
sometimes you could be hard to reach,
But it didn’t interfere with how much you meant to me.
Other people’s views had no effect on how I saw you.
Just it life was hard and sometimes
I didn’t play my part in order for you to play yours.
That’s why I would choose you over anything.
I would bring you.
Despite everything that goes on in my life,
My choice would be you.
Not only for one day
But for every day,
Or as long as I would be stranded,
On a deserted island.
