For You

Sometimes I feel trapped.

It’s like breathing in lead.

I feel like I should swim,

But I’m drowning instead.

I feel like there’s only dark,

And the light’s just in my head.

But then I think of you.

Your smile, your puns, your knitting and jokes.

The hope you create by being a friend

Is what gets me through days that never end.
