Before You
Before in the past I never did know
If I might possess a graceful beauty.
The kind to capture the heart of a beau,
I did not think it could be part of me.
Never once did I try to bat an eye.
To chase after boys seemed a waste of time.
To avoid heart break was my alibi.
If I were to fall it would be a crime.
Surely of romance one day I did dream,
But at the time boys seemed too infantile.
I never thought some boy could make me gleam,
But then, somehow you caused my heart to smile.
You changed my mind from what’s written above.
Now I know what ‘tis to love and be loved.
