You

The second I laid my eyes on you, I knew deep in my soul that you were either going to make me into the person I always dreamed of being,

Or you were going to destroy my whole world and watch as it went up in flames.

I’m sure you can understand why I was skeptical at first,

Your brown eyes held the deepest scars I had ever seen;

I needed to fix your mistakes and heal your pain.

Your smile, oh god your smile,

It made every person gravitate towards you.

When it was directed at me though,

My knees grew weak and I lost all rational thought.

Your hands, the way they fit with mine like God himself had carved us together in the beginning of times.

It seems that while I was paralyzed by all that is you,

You were steadily making the distance between us grow until I could no longer see the color of your eyes or the brightness of your smile.

Your words and your beautiful mind;

Those words, those words one second could make me feel on cloud 9 and then those same words would rip the cloud from under me and you would smile as I fell to the ground.

The problem was that I always thought you would catch me at the last second before I crashed back down to Earth,

Little did I know that your mind had already forgotten about me and moved on to the next,

and you weren’t there to catch me.

As I hit the ground and broke every part of myself,

For some reason, my arms still reached out.

They reached out for you.
