You
Dear Best Friend,
You ask me
What my favorite thing about you is
What draws me to you
What makes you attractive
I’m tempted to say
Your mouth
Boy
Your mouth can do wicked things
It can spill sweet words
Like honey
From your smile
Or it could cut fresh wounds
From the paper that is my flesh
And my heart
But your eyes
Your eyes are by far my favorite
Deep, knowing, and expressive
Your eyes contain the moon and the sun
Secrets and stories untold
And when you look at me
I am a puzzle
And you’re rearranging everything
I’ve ever told you about myself
Into the image of who I am
You’re figuring me out
From the inside out
Love (more than you know),
Hannah Kay
