you
You are the one eating me alive,
The one buried under my skin.
All I want to do is get rid of you,
But you're in my veins.
No matter how hard I try,
I will always be connected to you;
No matter how far I am,
I will always be reminded of you.
When you have seen someone
Every day since the day you were born,
You do not know what to feel in their absence.
Even if all you felt in their presence
Was fear,
You do not know how to feel anything else.
You are the one
That destroyed me,
Took my voice,
My future, my hope, my trust.
I will never be able to undo you from my skin.
I cannot escape you,
you are ever present in my mind.
You swore to protect me
when you were given the title father,
And now I have to be protected from you.
I will never be able to live a normal life,
You will haunt me as long as I breathe.
I cannot look in the mirror anymore
without seeing your eyes,
staring back from my own reflection.
I cannot look at myself anymore,
All I see is where your hands have been,
All I hear is the words you spoke while
Taking advantage of my innocence,
And the never ending trust I had for you.
I want to give my younger self back her childhood,
To give her a life without fear.
I didn't deserve this, I don't deserve this:
I deserve peace.
You were never a father to me,
You were a shadow lurking in the dark of every room.
You were all my pain in human form,
And you are everything I want to escape from.
