You.
You are not the measurement of your waist
Or the amount of calories in your lunch
You are not the color of your hair growing
Reaching out for the bright warmth of sunlight
You are not your GPA
Or the size of your nose
You are not the freckles on your face
Scattered like fallen leaves in Autumn
You are not the number on the scale
You are not your name
You are not the highlights in your hair
And you’re not just a pretty face
You are not how fast you run
Or how slow you eat
You are, however the words you speak
You are the smiles you try to hide, and your messy morning hair
You are the places you find beautiful, the place you call home
You are the things that you believe in
You are the posters in your bedroom
You are the song you sing when you know you are alone
You are the breath you take before you speak
You are your favorite book
It seems like you’ve forgotten, You are so much beauty
So why did you decide to define yourself by the things you’re not?
