You and I

I remember that time we met You stood on that stage and did your thing I was so amazed by your raw talent You smiled at me I smiled back You were my best friend, though I only knew you for a minute You asked me to hang out I resounded with a yes You seemed like a great person I realize now that we’re near the end You have no plans this summer, but I do --I am going to be gone You might forget me I know you care though You leave first; college will take you I leave last, without you You’re my best friend I don’t know what I’ll do You’ll be fine; you’ll make it through I hope I don’t lose you next year You’ll be making tons of new friends I will be too You just don’t forget that first stage I won’t forget.
