You and I
You.
The one inside my head who steals my voice.
Sewing my mouth shut to contain my hopes and dreams.
You.
The one who masks herself as distance.
Dragging me away from those who I want,
Who I need.
You.
The one who manipulates my sense of feeling,
Leaving only emptiness in its place.
You.
The one who twists my perception and reality.
Making me think what I shouldn’t and hiding what I should.
You.
The one who tell me to think in I’s not We’s.
And things that will never be.
You
The one who makes it hard to love.
I
The one who has learned how to cut the thread,
And scream to until have no voice.
And then some.
I
The one who has learned to run.
To anywhere
To anything
To anyone
I
The one who has learned to take back my emotions.
Filling myself to the brim with them
As if they are my breath.
I
The one who has learned to dig through the lies,
To find what to believe in.
And believe.
I
The one who has learned that we’s
Are the only true way to live a life
that's actually worth living.
I
The one who
Despite your arguing and pulling and whispers,
Your manipulation and warped fabrications,
Has learned how to truly love.
