You and I

In second grade everything seems great,

the friends you make

every breath you take

easy, nothing can stop you

As you grow you learn

things aren't as easy

as they once were

but it's okay because

you have that one friend

to help along the way

You and her are one and the same

both find relationships lame

sports are the main focus

your friendly competition goes unnoticed

For when high school years pass

you both write in the year book

"our friendship will always last"

but only one of you knows this

the other has had their first kiss

so you do the same,

cross that off your bucketlist

Now a party that we've both been invited

drugs and alcohol? I'm not that excited

but you're going, so I am too

We drink and smoke without a care

tomorrow we won't remember who was there

my parents found out

you shut me out, how is that fair?

This lie we've been living

is now slowly unhinging

you're not my friend

we won't be together in the end

Second grade, we laughed and played

highschool we drank and portrayed

our fake selves, our seperate identities

which almost caused a serious casualty

No longer do we speak

secrets we still keep

growing up was what I did

you stayed behind in a place

I wish I had never been

Losing you was not easy

everyday I wish we could talk

we are different now, it's cheesy

but cutting you out showed me that

it was okay for me to walk

without you
